Textiles have a quiet way of carrying stories.

They hold traces of time, the touch of a hand, the warmth of being held, and the marks left by everyday life. Perhaps that is why I’ve always felt that textile is one of the most beautiful ways to carry something human.

Hi, I’m Yi, the founder of Worn Of A Kind—a small creative studio and little playground in Sydney, Australia, where I explore my love of textiles, craftsmanship and design.

I’m drawn to materials with character: a piece of vintage cloth softened by years of use, the subtle variation of a naturally dyed fibre, or the quiet rhythm of stitches made slowly by hand. I love bringing together heritage techniques such as sashiko, boro patchwork, pojagi, natural dyeing and weaving with contemporary ideas and everyday objects.

There is something beautiful in the way textiles are made. Separate pieces of cloth, each with their own origins and histories, meet through a thread and become something new.

In much the same way, we meet one another—sometimes by chance, each carrying our own memories and stories. Different lives come together, share a little time, and create something new along the way.

That spirit is at the heart of Worn Of A Kind.

The name is a little play on worn and one of a kind—because I believe that the marks of time and use are not imperfections to hide, but part of what makes something uniquely its own.

Through Worn Of A Kind, I create and curate textiles, materials and DIY projects that invite you to slow down, make with your hands, and weave something of yourself in what you create.

A stitch here.
A worn piece of cloth there.
A little time, a little care.

And gradually, something that belongs to you.
